Liverpool FC in the hunt for a number one

The Champions League final left both Liverpool FC’s fans and crew with an ugly hangover from which they are still trying to recover. Although they are plenty the improvements to be worked out with eyes on next season, the truth is, the need for a new number one seems to be a no brainer for the German manager. Before we get into the specifics, we suggest you take a look at the welcome offer from Betfred after this read.

Karius’s performance in Kiev will cost the goalkeeper the loss of the reds confidence in him, and, needless to say, a very bad reputation worldwide. Speaking about Karius’ game-changing errors after the match, Klopp told reporters: ‘The second mistake is because of the first. It’s really difficult to get rid of the bad thoughts in your mind, Loris knows it, everybody knows it. That is a shame in a game like this, in a season like this. I feel for him. He is a fantastic boy’. Simon Mignolet, Liverpool's most experienced goalkeeper, has not earned the confidence of Klopp this past season either, as we conclude from the fact that the coach preferred not to have him as the first option in the team's most important match of the past decade.

Given these circumstances, the German has made the transfer of a new keeper a top priority for the weeks to come before his side is called for pre-season. The rumours that point at Roma's keeper Alisson as Klopp's first option have only increased for the past few days. He had already shown interest on the Brazilian last season but conversations between Liverpool and Roma did not have a fruitful ending. However, it is believed that Alisson has given his club the green lights to start talks about his departure this summer.

But the Reds are not the only team showing interest in the Brazilian goalkeeper. Real Madrid are also in search for a valuable number one to replace Navas, who is most likely to leave the Merengues this summer. They have reportedly sent a €49 million offer that would have been rejected by the Italian team who are expecting higher bids from the Premier League. It is also expected that Chelsea FC make a move on Becker to fill in for Thibaut Courtois, whose departure from the blues is currently imminent.

Liverpool's supporters will have to wait for Anfield to release an official update on the transfer. And, for now, we will be looking forward to the team's next important date before the Premier league's pre-season taking place on July,22 in Champions Cup against Borussia Dortmund, in what we can only imagine will be a special match German coach.
