Liverpool are lining up Athletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin as replacement, if Daniel Agger seals a move to Manchester City which looks a little way off at the present.
Manchester City have registered their interest in the Danish international and have lodged two bids of around £13m and £16m respectively but were rejected immediately by Liverpool.
The Merseysiders value the player at £27m and will only consider the possibility of selling him if the asking price is met.
The 27-year-old who has two years remaining in his contract has featured for 171 matches for the club. Rodgers certainly doesn’t want to sell him but will consider the case if the price is right.
